them to be kept off the furniture and not allowed to
foul the farmyard. They must be kept on a lead within
the farmyard and not be left unattended in the properties.
There is a small charge for dogs. Owners are responsible
for any damage their pets may cause and must clean up
after them as necessary.

One of our barns has been converted into two attractive cottages, each with its own large sun terrace. Each cottage has a large, open plan, living room facing south with kitchen (refitted 2003) and dining area. Access to the cottages and living area is on the first floor to take full advantage of the surrounding countryside.
On the ground floor are a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and bathroom with shower over the bath. The settee in the living room converts into a double bed if required. The stairs are fitted with child safety gates.

Places of interest:
We are amongst some of the most dramatic and varied coastal scenery in England. At Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton Sands you will find miles of golden sand and there are many smaller sandy and rocky bays closer to hand. The North Devon Coastal path running westward from Minehead as far as Lands End provides beautiful and exciting walking whether you want a quiet easy stroll from a car park or a strenuous day out, striding along cliff paths, where birds and wildlife abound.
Alternatively there are the wilds of Exmoor to explore by car, on foot or perhaps on horseback from one of the many riding stables in the area. Why not take an Exmoor Tour – an easy way to explore the beautiful Exmoor countryside (cream tea included!).
Ilfracombe (3 miles) offers small town shopping facilities, theatre, cinema and many interesting pubs and restaurants. It has a modern, indoor swimming pool and an excellent golf course where we can obtain discounted green fees for our guests.
Golf:
As well as Ilfracombe other courses are open to visitors in the immediate area including Saunton Sands (2 championship 18 hole courses), Royal North Devon at Westward Ho (England’s oldest golf course), Woolacombe, Barnstaple, Torrington etc.
Gardens:
RHS Garden Rosemoor situated in the beautiful Torridge Valley is about 45 minutes away by car. Covering 40 acres the varied features include formal plantings, a lake, a bamboo and fern planted rock gully, an arboretum and an interesting fruit and vegetable area plus a newly opened alpine house.
Marwood Hill Gardens, about 5 miles away, offers a wide selection of trees and shrubs, some of them very rare plus three lakes linked by a large bog garden.
Other gardens worth a visit and within easy reach by car are Clovelly Court, Docton Mill, Tapeley Park and Hartland Abbey which was given by Henry VIII to the keeper of his wine cellar and whose descendants still live there today.
Berrynarbor:
When driving from Ilfracombe to Combe Martin on the A399 coastal road it is difficult to realise that less than 1 mile inland stands this picturesque, prize-winning village. Situated on the edge of Exmoor, Berrynarbor is famous for its character cottages and beautiful setting.
St Peter’s Church stands on the winding, uphill approach to the village centre. The church’s impressive perpendicular tower topped by a fox weathervane dates from the 15th century and rises to 96ft. There is a peal of 6 bells and a clock.
The Sterridge Valley designated an area of outstanding natural beauty, winds from Berrynarbor and is a must for walkers and motorists alike but take care.
Despite its rustic appearance Berrynarbor is a lively village. ‘Ye Olde Globe’ pub, ‘Miss Muffets’ tearooms and the Post Office/general store form the village centre along with the church, primary school and the Manor Hall. Berrynarbor with its white painted cottages and sprawling farmsteads has often won the ‘Best Kept Village’ competition and lost it on one occasion for being “too pretty”. Best Kept Village award won again 2003, Britain in Bloom award South West won 2003.
There is much to discover in and around this lovely village, friendly people, undulating lanes providing wonderful views as far as Wales whilst quiet sanctuary is never far away.
